Gakuran Characters

Height defines your playstyle, ethnicity shapes your height distribution — Gakuran's most distinctive design.

Gakuran Character creation

On first entry you create a character: you pick the name and gender yourself, while the rest (age, height, ethnicity, appearance) is randomly generated based on the game's population stats.

Keeping the rolled character isn't mandatory — you can accept the result, or spend Robux to reroll certain traits like height, ethnicity, hair color, face and so on.

Since the Gakuran game is set in 2005 Japan, most players lean into the theme and pick authentic Japanese names for their student — it makes the roleplay feel right and helps you blend into Nishikata High.

Use the left-side arrow → Stats panel to view and change your character's attributes. The panel has multiple pages: page one holds core data like height/age, page two holds your fighting style and cosmetic accessories.

Ethnicity

Ethnicity generation reflects an "overwhelmingly Japanese" population design:

EthnicityChance
🇯🇵 Japanese~95%
European / African / Middle Eastern / Latin / Indian, etc. (combined)~5%

In other words, rolling a non-Japanese rare ethnicity is only about 5% per try, often requiring a lot of Robux to reroll. Ethnicity also affects your average height distribution (see below).

Height

Height roughly ranges from ~4'9" to 6'11" (about 145–211 cm), and some in the community are even asking for 7 ft+. Height is not a fixed value — it's weighted-randomly generated around the average height of your "ethnicity + gender" group:

  • The closer to that group's average, the more common.
  • The farther from the average (very tall / very short), the rarer.
📐

Each ethnicity and gender has its own average-height table. Extreme heights (very tall or very short) usually take many rerolls since they sit at the rare ends of the distribution. Height rerolls cost Robux.

How height affects combat

This is Gakuran's most important build trade-off: height directly changes your combat stats. The baseline (normal height) is about 100 HP.

🗼 Tall

  • Higher damage
  • Higher HP
  • Slower attack speed
  • Slower movement speed
  • Larger hitbox

🐜 Short

  • Faster attack speed
  • Faster movement, shorter cooldowns
  • Smaller hitbox, harder to hit
  • Lower HP
  • Lower damage

HP differences are minor within the normal range but become noticeable at extreme heights. Height also affects basketball (taller players shoot more effectively).

🎯

Short build tip: since damage/HP are lower, pair it with styles that amplify single-hit burst — Hikari (3× heavy damage after a full combo) or Boxing (invincible i-frame heavy). See Fighting Styles.

Appearance & accessories

Appearance is highly customizable, and most cosmetic slots can be rerolled for a small amount of Robux (usually ~2–5 Robux, very cheap), most being "spinnable / re-rollable":
